Dixon blazing his own path at English Valleys

I had the opportunity to interview Westmer graduate and first-year English Valleys head basketball coach Derek Dixon a few weeks ago. Derek served on Brian Hutton’s staff at Mercer County and earned his first varsity head coaching job in the small Eastern Iowa school district about 45 minutes from Iowa City. Derek talks about his influences, how he built the values for the program, and what it means to him to have his first teaching and head coaching job at English Valleys.

Listen to Dallon Christensen‘s call of all 10 North Scott goals in the Lancers’ 10-0 victory over Maquoketa in the Iowa 2A regional finals on June 9, 2014 at North Scott High School. The Lancers will face Council Bluffs Lewis on Thursday, June 12 at the state tournament in Des Moines.
