The Moline Maroons played Benet Academy to a 14-14 tie at halftime, but had no answer for Redwings RB Martin Radgowski in the second half and fell 49-29 at Lisle on Friday night. Radgowski had two short TD runs in the first half, but ripped the Maroons’ defense for scoring runs of 58 and 93 yards in the third quarter for a 41-21 advantage heading into the fourth.
Moline got second quarter touchdowns from Adrian Cooper (a 1-yard run) and Chase Marner (a 22-yard pass from Elijah Taylor), both times tying the score. After Taylor threw a pick-six sandwiched between the Radgowski long TD runs, the Maroons got a 4-yard run from Eli Warren to close within 35-21. They also scored on a Drew VandeVoorde 6-yard run in the fourth.
Taylor went all the way at QB for Moline and finished 11-for-17 for 156 yards. Warren caught 4 passes for 58, and led the Maroons rushing attack for the second straight week, with 97 yards on 26 carries.
The Maroons (1-1) head into Western Big 6 play next Friday night with a visit to 2-0 Geneseo.
