It’s always fun to reconnect with old college friends, especially when I can double it with an interview. CBS Chicago columnist Dave Wischnowsky joined me to talk about our mutual interest in Illinois football and what the Illini must do to return to respectability in the Big Ten. Dave and I spent our first two years at Forbes Hall at the University of Illinois where we instantly connected over our love of pizza, sports, and endless debating over the Cubs and Bears vs. the Cardinals and Packers. Dave is an award-winning writer and author of the book “Northern Illi-NOISE – Tales of a Territory“. Dave is a regular guest on sports shows across North America discussing Chicago and University of Illinois sports. Dave is also the writer of the popular syndicated column “The Wisch List“, found online as well as in the Daily Journal (Kankakee, IL) and The Daily Times (Ottawa, IL), where Dave started his career after graduating from the University of Illinois. Dave is also the only person I know who has used the word “vitriol” in a Facebook post.
Dave and I talk about the state of Illinois football, what we want to see in the next Illini coach, and spend a short time discussing the passing of former Peoria Manual basketball coach and Illinois basketball assistant coach Wayne McClain, who passed away after a short battle with pneumonia the day we recorded this interview (October 15, 2014).
